The Fine Print

  • PLEASE NOTE: All material on the web pages of this domain are copyrighted material and cannot be used in any other form without the written permission of the author.

  • This price list is somewhat different from previous years in that I show a WHOLESALE section for each cultivar I am expecting in 2009. What "WHOLESALE" means in this context is being sold right out of the egg, before being offered food. The whole idea of this is to move a lot of animals out QUICKLY. I am also offering another substantial discount for animals that are not sexed. This will save me a LOT of time preparing orders, so I am willing to offer the discount for my saved time.

  • Accordingly with the above in mind, there are some strings attached. (1) MINIMUM ORDER OF $300, PLEASE. This plan needs to take into consideration that I want to move LOTS of snakes out very quickly. Packing up dozens of boxes each containing a single $20 animal is not what I have in mind. (2) Please do not combine 2009 WHOLESALE and 2009 RETAIL animals in the same order. That defeats the purpose of the WHOLESALE offering. It wouldn't make sense for me to have to wait for some animals on your order to get feeding before being shipped and expect to have animals right out of the egg available at that time as well. Older animals along with the WHOLESALE 2009 animals, IS acceptable, however, since I don't have to wait for them to become available.

  • Please bear in mind that some of the animals listed on my 2009 list are projections, and "hoped for" based on the genetics of the parents bred together. NOTHING is guaranteed in that sort of thing. So if what you order is NOT available, then that money will be refunded to you, or you can apply it towards another animal of your chosing.

  • In case you are wondering, "cv." means "cultivar". Short for "cultivated variety". This term is widely used when referring to mutations in horticulture and I think it is an accurate term for the various color and pattern morphs I am offering.

  • All specimens are subject to prior sale unless held by a 20 percent deposit. All deposits will be promptly refunded if the specimens ordered do not become available. If the specimens ARE available, any cancelled orders will result in a forfeited deposit. THERE WILL BE NO EXCEPTIONS TO THIS POLICY. Phone calls or e-mail to determine availability are strongly encouraged. All specimens are sold on a deposit-held, first come, first served basis.

  • Any cancellation of a prepaid order will result in a 20 percent cancellation fee being deducted from the refunded total. And changes that result in a refund will also incur a cancellation fee totalling 20 percent of the refund total.

  • Prices listed are for each specimen. All snakes are preferably sold as sexual pairs (1 male & 1 female), with individuals of either sex only being available if a surplus exists of that sex.

  • Effective immediately, there will be a 25 percent surcharge for all lone females or extra females added to a pair. For instance, if you order 1.2 (a male and 2 females), one male and one female will be charged at the regular price, and one female will have 25 percent of the price added to the total. Getting a lone female of one cultivar and a lone male of another does not exempt the female from this surcharge. In this sort of instance, I would still be in jeopardy of having a shortage of females in the cultivar and this would not be offset by a surplus in another. If someone wants a pair of Butter Corns, but I only have males left, my having extra Hypo Okeetee females will do me absolutely no good.

    * The guarantee of live delivery will be born exclusively by SerpenCo. The carrier chosen to deliver the package is not going to be responsible and the customer is asked to PLEASE do not contact them about any problems. Any problems you experience are to be directed to us and us alone. One stipulation for shipping this way is that someone MUST be at home to accept delivery of the package. There will be NO guarantee of live delivery if the package is left on the doorstep because someone was not at home to accept it.

Please note that if you have a waiver signed with FedEx (e.g. "Signature Release on file") you are specifically giving them authority to leave your package wherever the driver wants OUTSIDE without ringing your doorbell and getting a signature. If this applies to you, this could void any warranty I am offering for live delivery. In this situation, I have no way to verify that someone was actually present to accept the package, and it could have been setting outside on your porch, in the direct sunlight, for hours before you brought it inside. I STRONGLY suggest that you rescind that waiver if you are intending on receiving live animal shipments!

Futhermore, if the tracking information for the package shows that FedEx has made one or more attempts at a delivery, and failed because no one was present to accept the package, the live delivery guarantee is specifically rescinded under that circumstance. NO EXCEPTIONS!

  • A minimum order of $300 applies to any WHOLESALE order for live animals, and a minimum of $100 for any RETAIL order of live animals. This minimum does NOT include the cost of shipping.

  • All orders placed and paid for with a credit card will have the credit card charged IMMEDIATELY when the order has been accepted. I know this sounds harsh, but I have my reasons for this decision. This means that any orders cancelled after placing the order will incur a 20 percent fee as a nonrefundable deposit. This is because the bank charges me for these transactions and I really don't think YOUR change of heart should take money out of my pocket.

  • Satisfaction of an animal's health is guaranteed on specimens purchased at full RETAIL listed prices for 30 days after you have received your order. Any retail purchase may be returned for a full refund, replacement, or credit, for any reasonable cause of dissatisfaction related to the health of an animal, as long as I am notified and the order is shipped back to me within 30 days with the freight charges prepaid. Shipping expenses are non-refundable. There is no further liability on my part beyond what is noted above.

  • The prices shown on this list are subject to change without notice.

  • International Shipments: Please note that I personally do not ship outside of the continental USA. However, that being said, I have made arrangements with a third party who is willing to handle the international shipping red tape for you. The way this will work is that you will contact this shipping broker and make all the arrangements with him. You will also pay him directly for that service. From my perspective, all you will need to do is to pay for the animals you have ordered, and the shipping expenses to his facility.

To get a better idea of the shipping expenses involved and to establish contact with this shipping broker, please click on this link -> ShipReptiles.com

Further, concerning the distances traveled and the number of hands the box will likely have to pass through, I do not offer ANY guarantee of live delivery whatsoever beyond receipt at shipreptiles.com. I will do all I can to insure that they will arrive safely, but my control is very limited in a case like this, and I just cannot take the responsibility for everyone else involved in getting these animals to their final destination. I only guarantee live delivery to the FIRST point of receipt of the shipment within the USA.

Sorry if this seems rather strict, but this is the only way I am prepared to handle this sort of transaction at the present time.

  • Every year I get numerous requests to provide photographs of the individual animals I am providing for sale. I truly am sorry that I often lack the time to be able to provide this service. It's simply a matter of this service must necessarily take time away from something else that I have to do. I wish it were otherwise, but that's just the way it is.

  • All photographs contained in this page are copyrighted material and can only be used elsewhere with the written consent of SerpenCo/Rich Zuchowski.

  • A few years ago I wrote an article concerning field collection of reptiles. It's rather lengthy, but you might find it of interest if you spend any time in the field looking for a new addition to your collection. It's called Nowhere To Run, Nowhere To Hide.

  • Every year I go through the disappointment of pulling infertile eggs from some of my breeder female's cages. This brought to mind something I've been planning on writing for some time now so I finally just sat down and wrote it. It's called Murphy's Laws of Snake Breeding. Sort of a list of things to expect while breeding your snakes.

All of the animals previously offered by SerpenCo have now been sold. Anyone interested in the animals that are shown here on this list are now invited to contact Mark or Kim Bell at Reptile Industries, Inc. (Sales@reptileindustries.com, Phone (239) 455-9128) to further inquire about their availability for purchase. Ordering from this site has now been disabled, and the animals shown here are no longer available directly from me.

I would like to thank everyone who has helped me over the years to create and live my dream of playing with cornsnakes for a living. It's not something everyone gets to do in their lifetime, living a dream that would seem a pipedream (or even a nightmare!) to most, and I am deeply appreciative of you all for making that a possibiltiy.

Now Connie and I can begin our retirement in earnest.
